A Short History of the Dioceses of Rockford

The Diocese of Rockford covers Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, JoDaviess, Kane, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties

No genealogical research can be done at the Chancery Office. However, I am compiling a list of parishes in the Diocese that will be included on this page in the near future. The list will contain information on the the Church, its location, whether it was an ethnic or a territorial church, if it was ethnic, what group, and when the parish was organized. All sacramental records can then be located by writing to the individual churches. I will also try to list all Diocesan and parish history books that have been published.
