Naturalization Records Phone:

- Records date from 1840's to 1983, you must also
check the Federal Courthouse-Naturalizing Courts because
naturalizations were done in both Courthouses after 1930.
- Requests can be made in person or by mail. The workload
of the clerks is very heavy. You may want to call or
write ahead.
- The public is not allowed direct access to the records.
- There is a search fee of $4.00. In addition, the first
copy of a record is $2.00, the second and subsequent
copies are $.50.
- All requests must be pre-paid, and mail-in requests
should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Probate

- No search work is done by the Probate Clerks. You must do
it yourself or hire someone to do it for you.
- Types of records available:
- Wills and Estates
- Guardianships
- Disabled
- Hardcopy index ends in 1982 and is, thereafter,
computerized.
- Copies are $2 for the first copy, $.50 for the second up
to 19 pages, then $.25, thereafter.
- If any copies need to be certified, there is a $4.00 fee.

- Records are open to the public.
- All indexes are accessible to the public.
- Divorce search copy charges are $2.00 for the first copy,
$.50 for the second up to 19 pages, then $.25, thereafter.
- If any copies need to be certified, there is a $4.00 fee.

- Oldest records are at the Illinois Regional Archives
Depository in DeKalb, IL
- Records from approximately 1860 are available for your
research in the Courthouse.
- Indexes are alphabetical.
- Copy costs are $2.00 for the first copy, $.50 for the
second up to 19 pages, then $.25 thereafter.
- Clerks do not research these records for you.
